UI/UX
User Interface design focuses on the visual elements and interactive components users engage with, including layout, typography, color, icons, and button styles. User Experience design encompasses the broader journey of using a product, covering information architecture, user flows, interaction patterns, and the overall satisfaction and efficiency of accomplishing tasks.
While related, the two disciplines involve different skill sets. UI design requires visual proficiency, understanding of design systems, and attention to consistency and accessibility. UX design requires research skills, user journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and usability testing. In practice, many professionals work across both areas. Together, strong UI and UX determine whether users can accomplish their goals efficiently and whether they return. For web development projects, investing in both disciplines from the start prevents costly redesigns and directly impacts conversion rates, retention, and user satisfaction.
