Scrum

Scrum is an agile framework for managing complex projects through iterative development in fixed-length sprints, typically two to four weeks. It defines three roles: the Product Owner who prioritizes the backlog, the Scrum Master who facilitates the process and removes impediments, and the Development Team who self-organizes to deliver working increments each sprint.

The framework prescribes specific ceremonies that structure communication. Sprint Planning defines what will be built. Daily standups surface blockers quickly. Sprint Review demonstrates completed work to stakeholders. Sprint Retrospective reflects on process improvements. The product backlog serves as the single prioritized list of everything the product needs. Scrum works well for web development teams because it creates regular delivery cadences and forces prioritization decisions that prevent scope creep, though it requires discipline to avoid turning ceremonies into status meetings.
