Blender
Blender is an open-source 3D creation suite covering modeling, sculpting, animation, rendering, compositing, and video editing. It provides professional-grade tools for creating 3D graphics, character animations, architectural visualizations, and visual effects, all without any licensing cost. The software is maintained by the Blender Foundation and a large community of contributors.
Blender includes polygon and NURBS modeling, a full rigging and animation system, particle simulations, fluid dynamics, cloth simulation, and two production-quality render engines: Cycles for photorealistic path-traced rendering and EEVEE for real-time viewport rendering. Its geometry nodes system enables procedural content generation through a visual node-based workflow.
For web development, Blender is increasingly relevant as 3D content becomes more common on the web through WebGL and WebGPU. Developers use Blender to create 3D models and animations exported to glTF format for use with Three.js, Babylon.js, or native browser 3D APIs. Product configurators, interactive portfolios, and immersive landing pages all rely on 3D assets typically authored in Blender. Its zero cost makes it accessible to freelancers and small studios.
